In July 2020, after just graduating from the University of Chichester with 1st class honours degrees in Musical Theatre, Abby unfortunately discovered a lump on her leg which was swiftly diagnosed as osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer. She had to undergo 3 months chemotherapy, followed by surgery to remove the tumour and replace her left knee and femur bone, followed by a further 6 months of chemotherapy and immunotherapy.

Over the last 6 years the cancer sadly returned several times both in her lungs and leg. She has had to undergo many surgeries and ablations to remove the recurrences and in October 2025 she began palliative chemotherapy.

Throughout all these troubles, Abby found a safe haven in Musical theatre and performing. Since she was a child she participated in many singing, dancing and acting classes and performed in many different shows. After initially being given the all clear in 2021, she moved down to Portsmouth to pursue a career in teaching dance and musical theatre and also joined the local amateur company Portsmouth Players to continue her love of being on stage.

To celebrate her life and journey through musical theatre and cancer, Abby hosted a sell-out concert called 'Raise the Curtain' alongside some close friends in aid of Sarcoma UK.

Sadly, Abby died in July 2026, aged 26. Her family and friends wish to continue Abby's work supporting Sarcoma UK, helping to raise awareness and funds for better treatment.
