In January 2021, at aged 31 and just three months after giving birth to my first child, I was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer called Ewing sarcoma. Ewing sarcoma is a bone and soft tissue cancer most commonly affecting children, teenagers and young adults. There are fewer than 100 cases of Ewing sarcoma diagnosed in the UK and Ireland each year.
After 9 months of treatment, including 14 rounds of chemotherapy, 28 sessions of proton beam therapy and surgery, I finished my treatment and am now in remission.
Since completing my treatment, I am determined to raise awareness of this cancer, as more needs to be done to improve survival rates for Sarcoma, and to find more effective treatment paths to get there.
There are around 100 different sub-types of known Sarcoma. Sarcoma UK is a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments.
When my world was turned upside down in 2021, the support team at Sarcoma UK helped my family and I get through the toughest year of our lives. I want to do all I can to ensure the charity can continue to do their brilliant work and continue to support others in the way they helped me.
Each year my family and I are committed to raising funds for Sarcoma UK and are so grateful for all of your support.
